I've struggled with insomnia and getting a good nights sleep for just about forever. I heard about this Sleep Cycle app and I was intrigued.
The theory is that you set your alarm for the time you want to wake up. Then you leave your phone on the corner of your bed. The app will calibrate, by your movements, when you are sleeping the lightest during the half hour before your alarm time. So instead of being jerked out of a sound sleep at 6:30, it will play a gentle alarm (of your choosing) to bring you out of sleep in between 6:00 - 6:30.
It's free to install and I thought I'd give it a try. The first couple nights I had poor sleep quality (60%-70%), so I modified my bedtime, how much water I would drink before bed (less, so I'm up less time going pee) and alarm time to see how it would affect it.
It will ask you if you are waking up happy, neutral or sad. With this method of waking, I can honestly say I wake up happy and if I see a 95%-100% sleep quality, I'm really happy. I feel more rested and more in control of my sleep quality. Which makes me better prepared to handle my daily challenges.
I highly recommend this app, you can get it on the iPhone or Android in your app store. Or visit the web site here: www.sleepcycle.com
I'm not affiliated, just a very satisfied customer. Happy zzzzzzzz's everyone.
