Sitton Peak Climb - 10 miles

One of my favorites in this area, the Sitton Peak Climb did not disappoint today. Map My Hike only logged 9.11 miles, which I'd love to blame on the app, but it was my fault. I tried to do something on my iPhone and messed something up at the start of the hike, hence the straight line on my trail map.

It was a busy day on the trail, with a big group of 26 hiking in smaller groups. It's always fun to converse with other people who love the trails. I started at the trailhead parking across from the Ortega Candy Store on Highway 74. I fired up the podcasts and iTunes and made my way up.

When I hit the big metal tub and the plane crash site, I know it's go time for the hardest stretch of the climb in about 2 minutes.

The first time I did this 1/2 mile climb up to the peak, I was pretty sure I was going to die. I did not and after doing it about a dozen times in the past 2 years, it's become easier, but still a hot sweaty messy workout. I love it. And the views from the top are worth it.

I'm always looking for great hikes in the Irvine/Orange County area. If you have one you love in the area, share it in the comments below, I'd love to hear from you!
